Sony’s set to release a Digital Photo Frame in the next month or so, in time for Christmas.  The 7-inch DPF-D72N/BQ Digital Picture Frame boasts a LCD WVGA video display, has a remote control, has light and vivid colors, comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio LCD, has multiple playback options, and also has a resolution of 800×480.  It will sport 1GB of internal memory to store and display your photos.  Sony maintains that this digital photo frame will save 2,000 images, which is a whole lot!  This digital frame can display 2 image formats: RAW and JPEG.  And since every single digital cameras do support JPEG, then the Sony digital frame will certainly work with all digital cameras!

The picture frame can get your pics from a diverse set of memory cards as well as by connecting to your camera through a USB port.  Memory cards that the frame supports comprise of Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Secure Digital (SD), Multi-Media Card (MMC), Compact Flash Card Type I and Type II, and xD-picture cards.

A couple of features include Auto Resizing and Auto Rotation, which will come in very handy.  What Auto Resizing does for you, is to automatically suit the images for best fit and does it without destroying the quality of the photos.  Just as well, the Auto Orientation automatically spins your images into landscape or portrait format.  This enables you to set your frame vertically or horizontally, nevertheless, for best viewing, use landscape.

Additionally, the frame includes several different view modes, a clock and a calendar.  When it enters the market, you should pay about 150 dollars for it.

However, there are some things that are lacking in this digital picture frame, namely audio, video, and wireless.  And since today wireless is the norm, it is very interesting that Sony would come out with this digital picture frame without wireless support.
